ASME B30.2 Directional Marking
ASME B30.2 Section 2-1.1.6(c) requires directional markings on applicable overhead and gantry crane equipment or facilities. The standard identifies “north, south, east, west” as examples of acceptable markings and specifies that they must be legible to the operator and consistent with the direction-of-movement markings on the crane controllers.
This S-E-N-W overhead crane directional decal is designed to provide visible directional markings for applicable crane equipment or facilities. Before installation, verify that the decal’s directions match the corresponding controller markings and actual crane movement.
The black, white, and yellow color scheme and graphic layout are product-design features. They are not represented as colors or artwork specifically mandated by ASME B30.2 or OSHA.
OSHA 29 CFR 1910.179(b)(2) requires covered overhead and gantry cranes constructed and installed on or after August 31, 1971, to meet the design specifications of ANSI B30.2.0-1967, as incorporated by reference.
