An overhead bridge crane, commonly called a bridge crane, is a type of crane found in industrial environments.

Some overhead crane parts consist of parallel runways with a traveling bridge spanning the gap. A hoist, the lifting component of a crane, travels along the bridge. Overhead Crane Safety.

Some of the most common crane-related injuries can result in fatalities. These injuries are caused by contact with electrical current. Although the biggest danger lies overhead, falling loads and objects are the most common causes of injury.

Basic Daily Overhead Crane Inspection.

  • Inspect all hydraulic hoses and pumps for leaks. Fix or replace any leaky hoses.
  • Inspect your crane daily for cracks in the hook. If the hook is cracked, replace it immediately.
  • Make sure your load being lifted is within the crane's load rating. Check the crane load charts.
  • Look to make sure nothing has been placed in the path of the crane, hook, line, or load.

Put safety signs specific to your crane and safety hazards in sight of the crane operator, rigger, and other workers. This will help keep everyone safe in the work area.

Overhead crane operation safety signs come in different sizes, shapes, and colors. Each contains a different safety message. Each message is designed to raise awareness of the dangers of overhead gantry crane safety.
