POWER LINE HAZARD ASSESSMENT
Power Line Safety (at or below 1000KV)
OSHA 1926.1409
Before beginning equipment operations, the employer must identify the work zone and determine if any part of the equipment. load line or load, if operated up to the equipments maximum working radius in the work zone, could get closer than 50 feet to a power line. if so, the employer must meet the requirements in option 1, option 2, or option 3.
Option 1: DE-ENERGIZE AND GROUND; Confirm with the utility owner/operator that the power line has been de-energized and visibly grounded at the worksite.
Option 2: 50 FOOT CLEARANCE; Ensure that no part of the load line, load, or equipment gets closer than 50 feet of the power line by implementing the measures specified in the OSHA regulation 1926.1408(b) preventing encroachment/electrocution.
Option 3: TABLE "A" CLEARANCE; Determine the line's voltage and the minimum approach distance permitted under OSHA 1926.1408 and ANSI B30.5 table.
Physical sticker, not a complete clearance chart
The text above transcribes the artwork, including the references to 1926.1408 within the options. This listing is a physical adhesive sticker, not an official OSHA publication, downloadable PDF or completed hazard assessment. Table A is referenced but the voltage/clearance table itself is not printed on the label.
Do not treat the printed 50-foot message as a universal safe operating clearance or use the label alone to select an operating option. Confirm the line voltage and applicable requirements through the responsible utility or qualified site personnel, and follow current requirements and the equipment manufacturer’s procedures for the actual task.
Placement for equipment operators
For cab-operated cranes, consider a fixed interior panel readable from the normal operating position without obstructing windows, instruments or controls. For ground-control boom trucks, consider a visible fixed panel beside the operating controls where the operator can consult the message before starting work.
Follow the manufacturer’s designated decal location when available, and retain the original location when replacing a matching label. These are general recommendations, not a verified factory placement map. Apply to a clean, smooth surface without covering identification or other warnings.
This sticker does not identify line voltage, perform a hazard assessment, insulate equipment, authorize closer approach or certify compliance.
