Shape-Coded Overhead Crane Directional Decal

DIR-004-8

Shape-Coded Directional Decal for Overhead Cranes

This vinyl crane directional sticker uses four yellow shapes on a blue background rather than compass letters or written direction names. Starting at the top and moving clockwise, the pictured symbols are triangle, circle, square, and rectangle.

Use this design as a visual direction reference where the crane’s pendant or radio-control system uses corresponding shape symbols. The shape layout and installed orientation must match the equipment’s actual movements and control markings.

Matching Shapes to Crane Controls

In a shape-coded direction system, operators identify travel directions by matching a control symbol with the corresponding shape marking on the crane. For example, a triangle-marked control should correspond to the direction identified by the triangle marking in that equipment’s established control scheme.

The shapes do not automatically mean North, South, East, West, hoist, or lower. Do not assume this layout suits every bridge, gantry, jib, or other crane. Confirm the symbol-to-motion correspondence for your equipment before installing the decal.

Two Available Sizes

Choose an 8-inch or 14-inch square decal. Measure the intended mounting area and consider the operator’s viewing position before selecting a size.

Placement and Application

Choose the mounting location and orientation according to the equipment manufacturer’s instructions and your established shape-coded control scheme. If mounting on the side or underside of the crane structure, confirm that the shapes correspond to the actual control functions from the intended operator position.

Follow the product and equipment instructions for surface preparation and application. Have qualified personnel verify the markings and control functions before the crane returns to use.

This is a directional sticker, not a replacement pendant, radio controller, switch, or rigid sign. It does not by itself certify OSHA or ASME compliance, prevent load swings or accidents, or replace operator training and workplace operating procedures.

No. The shapes do not have universal compass or control-function meanings. Their meaning depends on your equipment’s established symbol-to-motion correspondence.
